Note that in the BNSF improvement projects for this fiscal year, the project to connect the BNSF (Santa Fe) main and the UP (Espee) main in North Richmond is included. Presumably this will allow the OIG (Oakland Intermodal Gateway) trains to run directly to the Port of Oakland, bypassing the Richmond yard and obviating the need for a crew change in Richmond.
