The clue to his point was the pejorative phrase "The Baby Machines next door". Since how many children his neighbors have or don't have, is profoundly none of his damn business, but he still gets hung up on it anyway; one could guess two things: 1.) He hates children 2.) He is OK with stickin' our collective noses in other people's affairs, just like our government now gleefully does to its own citizens, as well as to foreign heads of state.

Granted, it is tragic that those kids do not have the benefit of parents at home enough of the time; but he needs to mind his own damn business, as does our government. Or maybe, just maybe, he could have helped instead of grousing. If good neighbors got involved, actually made friends with the kids, and helped mentor them; it might have turned out a bit better. It might help also, if he recognize that the problem is not the children, no matter how many there are. They are citizens too! With the same right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, as he has.

At this point, there may not be a solution - we may already have degenerated beyond the point of no return. But it may at least be instructive, if he recognizes that all the so-called liberal "social progress" we've made over the last 60 years; has plainly brought us to this awful state. A state wherein both parents MUST work - multiple jobs; just to provide what was commonly achieved back then, by just one 40hr/week job per family. Of course, there often were no frills, no extras, no boats or RVs, and only one car; but at least the family was intact, and far more likely to be socially functional.

As it has turned out, the industrial revolution at the turn of the 20th century, took the father out of the home; whereas, the post industrial revolution of the late 20th century, took the mother out of the home as well! And they call that progress!

The effect of this, is well contrasted by how children raised in rural areas, by both parents still in the home, still doing rural jobs; manage to mature much younger, and are far more likely to be civilized and responsible young adults, and at a much younger age too. There is a clue there! In a rural lifestyle, both parents are more likely to be with their kids a whole lot more often, than in the city.

And y'all wonder why the country is going to hell in a hand basket - Well Duh!
