Up tried running two turbines back to back. As soon as they entered a tunnel the second one died from lack of sufficient oxygen. After that they usually mated one turbine with two GP9s. This combination worked in tunnels.

An added bonus to this combination was that most of the time the engineer could keep the turbine in run 8 and control the geeps to maintain the proper speed. The turbines used almost fuel at idle as they did in run 8.
