Thanks, Bruce. I recall that the Wyer, Dick merger planning study called for the abandonment of the Great Northern from Sandpoint, Id., South and through downtown Spokane anyways, in favor of the Northern Pacific line. Also, I believe The Milwaukee Road line was mostly passenger - only through downtown, which means it would have seen little use after 1961.
