should you make it to Pan Am's Hoosac Tunnel, which is hard to do because it is located on a hidden typically twisty New England county highway; you will find...
1. no place to park. Pan Am has fenced the site off
2. cantenary towers left over from the good old days when the B&MRR ran electrified locomotives thru the tunnel.
3. across the Deerfield River, you will find the remnants of the yard of the Hoosac Tunnel & Wilmington RR. a short line that ran up to Vermont. It figured big in the construction or the Rowe Yankee Atomic power plant, one of the first commercial nuclear power plants in the US.
Worth a trip.
