Everything in Switzerland is clean. The Swiss must be the world's most tidy people. A few years back, I was standing on the platform of a rural station waiting to board a mixed train. The Station Master came out of his office and demanded that I pick up a single gum wrapper blowing around on the tracks. The gum wrapper wasn't even mine!

Even in the most remote parts you see flower boxes on every station platform. The passenger coaches and the locomotives shine like they've just been Simonized. No graffiti, no trash, no junk cars, no weeds. Just cows and some amazing railways. The entire nation looks like it was designed by Walt Disney.
