Perhaps the " Not on MY Railroad " attitude of EwePee, is the reason why the proposed trip will go to PASCO, WA., well - served by BNSF. The bus trip from there to Pendleton is only an hour. The former BN, exx - NP line from Walla Walla to Pendleton is now in the hands of a shortline, however I do not believe it is being operated currently. It may not even be intact as a through route. Regardless, it probably would not support the weight and length of a big Northern.
For those not in the know, the Pendleton Roundup is one of the best Rodeos of the year. It is also the last major Rodeo of the season and the last chance for competitors to qualify for the National Finals Rodeo. If you go, stop by Hamley & Co. for a great Steak dinner !!!
