Ignoring the rodent comments ....
It is ironic that with all the hydro power and wind farms along the Columbia River, there is still a need for other power plants in the area. There is a small power plant near Hinkle, and another one in Boardman (also supplies steam to nearby industries) which must be gas powered, not to mention the big coal plant outside town. If it really became an issue, I'm sure the coal could be routed for UP to bring it over the Blues. (Where does Boardman's coal originate?) I recall there is an agreement with the greenies to close Boardman (coal) in a few years since it is too "dirty", so they might as well get used to the fact they can't make their expresso and their electric car won't be charged for them to go to their protest meeting.
If you made a map showing where power is consumed versus where it is produced, why do I think that much of the Columbia River basin's power generation is being exported? As far as California? And exactly what are the losses of such long range transmission?
