For those who had an interest in the artist on the Southern Pacific promotional song and film I posted last week. It was suggested by one poster that the artist might have been Byron Berline. I tracked down Byron, who still performs and runs a fiddle shop in Oklahoma! He sent the following reply:

"Thanks for sending me that clip as I had never seen it before. I wish that was me doing the singing but it was Steve Spurgin. Steve and I were contracted to write that song for SP. Steve and I played together when we lived in LA. I played the fiddle on that track but it was Steve doing the lead vocal who has a great voice and also a good song writer." (Byron Berline)

Ah, the magic of the computer - when it works properly is truly amazing. I subsequently spoke with him on the phone and post with his permission.
