Sometime ago the question was raised as to what was unique about the 2475. As stated, the 2475 was a P-8, and the only P-8 that at one time was equipped with a booster. Sometime in 1956 the booster was removed and by the fan trips on December 31st, and January 1st the locomotive ran without a booster.

The 2475 was not the last SP steam locomotive to operate in revenue freight service. The 2831 operated in switching service in Sacramento during the spring floods, and narrow gauge 9 operated in revenue service during July and August 1959. John West was there.
