I spent several enjoyable late afternoons talking with Drew on the mud flats in the slough. I meant to take photographs of the surroundings and other photographers while I was out there, but the late afternoons were so pleasant and the birds were such a joy to watch I forgot about taking them. I searched the photographs I took and I found a few of Drew and his friends enjoying the day.
Below are the photographs. Sorry, no close ups.
My wife and I were on the table car for the 2:00PM train and we caught Drew, Ben and their friend as we approached the slough.
I photographed them again after we crossed the trestle in the slough. Ben is standing on the toolbox in Drew’s truck in front and two out of town railfans are in the truck behind them.
Another view as we approached the private crossing by the beehives.
I was on the other side of the mud flat when I caught Ben waving at Jeff in the cab of SC 1101. Jeff just tapped out a Christmas melody on the horns and the birds took flight.
