In celebration of the future of transportation services throughout the region, Caltrain is hosting a program at the Santa Clara Depot on Saturday, January 18th from 11 am – 3 pm.
The South Bay Historical Railroad Society, occupants of the depot, will concurrently celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the historic Santa Clara Depot. (The depot was placed in service on January 17th, 1864.)
As part of that celebration, the HO-scale and N-scale model train operations will be dedicated to HISTORIC PENINSULA TRAINS AT SANTA CLARA. Engineers will be operating historic Southern Pacific trainsets (SP Commute trains from the 1920s onward to the inauguration of Caltrain operational equipment), SP freight trains and a Coast Daylight. Also operating will be historic and more contemporary Caltrain commute trains, including gallery cars and Bombardier cars and modern Caltrain locos.
The model train program will operate from 11 am to 3 pm, or later if enough visitors hang around the depot.
Please join us for this special occasion at the Santa Clara Depot. There is no charge for this event.
