Here is the list OPRRMS mentioned, which was originally posted by FRRS Director Greg Elems:
"Ok here is the deal on that old girl. She was stored for 20 yrs or so in San Francisco with other equipment before coming up to Portola. She had seized pistons on at least two cylinders. Her radiators were total junk. The traction motors were seized up so to move it idlers were put under it. Cancer was also an issue from the salt air down by the bay. It was to be sold as a display unit in Arizona but that deal fell through. The problem was the cost to move it, since it didn't have alignment control couplers it would have to be loaded onto a flat car and the trucks sent on a second car. While the museum regrets the scrapping no one stepped up to save it either."
To add to that: the body cancer was extensive and a lot of sheetmetal work would have been required for even cosmetic restoration. The wiring was damaged and much was missing. Her generator was also trashed.
