Norwegian TV (NRK) produced this video in 2009 for the 100th anniversary of the Bergensbanen titled "BergensBanen minutt for minutt" and is quite remarkable.

For those trivia minded folks, at 2:34:48 just out of Finse, is the location where they filmed part of "The Empire Strikes Back" - Ice Planet Hoth.
While I like the video, I wish the producers placed the microphone somewhere in the locomotive, away from the cab so the viewers can enjoy the sound of the rails and the locomotive. As it is done now, they had a mic somewhere in a passenger coach near a noisy door that rattles. The audio at times is looped to mask probably unwanted chatter. They did a good job of time shifting the audio to match what is seen...i.e. noise going under bridges and tunnels.

As an aside, the 'technology' to produce this type of show was recently licensed to the US to LMNO. Will we see 'cab' videos like the one shot in Norway from the US? Only time will tell. While I am up for train videos, 12 hours of firewood burning and 18 hours of salmon fishing just isn't my thing.

Enjoy!
