We were delayed one morning's commute a couple of years ago when somebody managed to tear down a few 100 feet of ENERGIZED trolley wire on Sac's light rail overnite. One might ask how they got the wire down without frying themselves - were the Yakima wires live when taken? - but for some reason those people tend to be lucky and (not always, but nearly) indestructible, like drunks. Bad enough when RT does it with their test car (last week) but tweakers ... there were a lot of mad (late for work) people that day.
For that amount of wire, they must have had a real truck, and one must wonder how RT couldn't tell the wire went down (don't the affected substation trip and robodial?) and the cops couldn't get there fast enough to catch 'em. But at the price of bulk recycle copper at a place that doesn't ask questions they probably barely made enough for their next hit. Brainz...
