This morning's Northwest Cable News said Tri-Met is also planning to implement night time fares in its Fare-less Square in an effort to discourage criminals from riding MAX after dark. Enforcement of these nocturnal fares will only work if there's an increase in security personnel to make frequent, random checks of riders' stubs. Of course, an increase in security personnel might deter the crooks and thugs enough that night time fares would not be needed in the first place.
