"Pete Johnston, who delivered the excellent presentation, pointed out that the Skunk is the major tourist attraction in Mendocino now and if we had a train museum and an opportunity for a train ride, that would be enough to get tourists to stop HERE, rather than shooting past us to Bend or other places with train-related attractions."

An excellent presentation? First, I would suggest someone look at a map and they might discover that "Bend" isn't any where near Eureka - are they talking about Oregon or in Tehama County? Neither of which is known for attracting substantial visitors for a railroad attraction that I am aware of. Maybe they meant the Cal Western at Fort Bragg? And haven't they been barely able to survive once the freight disappeared?
