Paul Hammond and myself were rail fanning around Redondo Jct back in the early to mid eighties. I think we were walking back from the tower (it's all a little fuzzy) and as we approached the street (Santa Fe Ave?) we encountered a pulled up and discarded railroad crossing in the weeds. Upon close inspection (we were both in the track dept at OERM) we discovered that it was a standard/narrow gage crossing ... we thought we found gold! After contacting several railroad officials, we finally found someone who gave the museum permission to relocate it for potential reuse!
