Dotsero Cutoff

The Dotsero Cutoff clearly made the line more valuable after DRGW took it over, arguably saved the Moffat route. But when Moffat was building it I assume he expected to go all the way to Salt Lake to connect with the CP/SP without any help from the DRGW. From what OPB is suggesting, the route via Craig might have been superior to the DRGW. But of course the DRGW had the big advantage of already having spent the construction money. Interesting speculation about what might have been. Had both been built I wonder which one would have survived.
