Historic Rocklin Roundhouse

The Central Pacific's Rocklin roundhouse, at least a piece of it, is being turned into a park by the City of Rocklin. Built in 1867 as a fuel stop and base for helper engines to boost trains of the Sierra Nevada, the facility included 25 stalls, a turntable and 8,000-square-foot woodshed. In its heydday, the facility provided 300 jobs.
That all came to an end in 1906-08 when the railroad moved everything a few miles west to Roseville. In 1912, the city ordered the railroad to demolish what had become a dangerous eyesore. The pits were filled in and the structure taken down leaving only part of the masonry curved back wall.
The City of Rocklin in the last year has begun to transform the property into a park, excavating several service pits, planting grass and shrubbery and laying concrete walkways through the area at Rocklin Road and First Street.

I have a couple of photos but can't seem to get them in this post.
