Narcolepsy defense?
Hey, I've actually seen that happen to people. Narcolepsy can put its victim to sleep instantaneously, at any time and under any circumstance, and often without warning.
It is generally considered to be an automatically disqualifying medical condition. That defense, even if it is agreed to by CTA as the cause of her being asleep, will absolutely NOT save her job.
Beyond that, if she knew she had this medical condition and did not tell anyone, she could be held criminally negligent if anyone was injured. But that is up to the DA, not the transit authority.
But what I am wondering about, is why the CTA's onboard ATC did not intervene to stop the train when she first violated an approach aspect. OR, is this another Spuyten Duyvil accident, where the control system was not designed to enforce fixed speed restrictions; OR is the airport line simply not even equipped with ATC. I thought all of the CTA was.
