Question About a Web Cam

My daughter recently purchase a house near the BNSF Longview Texas Sub, it is not a very busy sub. Lucky to see 4 trains a day. My question is I am thinking about putting a WebCam up at her house to watch the trains that pass her house. I am not very proficient in this operation so I was wondering if there is anyone that could give me some information on this task. My daughter has dsl internet and her house is about 250 to 300 yards from the tracks. I am wondering if this is at all possible and what kind of camera's are out there?
