Back in the late 1980's there was an article in the "San Francisco Chronicle" (with picture) of one of those bikes operating over the out of service San Francisco Bay Drawbridge between Menlo Park and Newark. The result is that the Southern Pacific's Safety Department and Public Relations Dept. were VERY upset, to say the least. While no trains were using that track, the railroad was subject to claims and/or legal action should there have been any accident.
