To say nothing of the AWFUL electronic bells at Xings

Electronic steam whistles would make more sense and use far less energy than air whistles.

Crossing bells on many of the local signals are a horrid semi bell sound. Since they are electronic, why? It would be so easy to make them sound live instead of dead.
