Property owners in Alviso and San Jose are very glad they aren't on the hook for $850 million loan that the Santa Clara Stadium Authority underwrote to build Levi's Stadium.

The SCSA board of directors and the city council of Santa Clara are one and the same. Despite the fact the NFL provided $200M to finance the stadium, Santa Clara property owners and customers of Santa Clara's public utility department are responsible for the $850M if the 49er's can't make the rent payments.
