Don't worry about Santa Clara. They are going to be raking the money in because of the stadium deal. The latest thing I heard is that the Santa Clara golf course is going to be developed into a Santanna Row type of place. It sticks for the golfers and people who like to see open spaces but the city will be making tons of money off the development and taxes from the new businesses.
From a rail perspective I wonder if Caltrain will run specials down the Penninsula to the games and store the trains on the sewerage treatment plant spur in Alviso.
