Granted Doyle did that for tribute to His father but obtaining ANYTHING from the Smithsonain (which had a goal of RESTORING it) which by defination is PRESERVING and RESTORING it to it's AS BUILT statis is treasonous to those of Us that followed for years the removal from mexico. This locomotive was the last remaining chance of any of Us to see what We either remembered from Our youth or never did get a chance to see. If He had've PURCHASED the locomotive from mexico, He could have done ANYTHING He wanted to it. But the Smithsonian dropped the ball by not adding verbage that the locomotive be RESTORED. Doyle pulled a fast one........... and the price of one memory will cost all of Us that had hoped to one day see a GLAMOUROUS Santa Fe PA ever again has been hopelessly dashed. MY OPINION???? Send it right back to mexico. Pink and blue would be just about as nice as the hideous NKP scheme ! ! ! ! !
