The Oregon Pacific has had 5 SW-8's; 801 is ex-BN 99 and is in service just being re-engined with an 8-567BE; the 901 (ex-CRANDIC 91 upgraded to SW-900) in service. Bamberger 602 was sold to Western Rail as a trade-in on GMD1 1413. The two ex-SP SW8-s on the roster were the 803 (SP 1105/T&NO 13) also sold to Western Rail as part of the GMD1 1413 deal. This leaves the OPR 802 (ex-SP 1127) which is at the Milwaukie shops undergoing restoration as SP 1127. Very little progress has been made during the past couple of years due to extensive trackwork and bridge maintenance. Both the 802 and 803 were on the Lewis & Clark after retirement from the SP roster.

Hopefully this summer will see some sandblasting and painting. All of the parts for the Gyralights as well as the horn and number boards are on hand as well as a new exhaust stack is being fabricated to replace the ugly spark arrester that was installed after retirement from the SP roster.

A set of 4 roller bearing combos is on hand to convert from friction bearings to allow interchange and alignment control draft gear is being installed.

It has a 8-567BC engine which will be completely overhauled as well as we will go through the main and aux generators to insure reliability. Dynamic brakes were made fully functional prior to starting the tear down.
