pdxrailtransit wrote of the tamarisk trees at Cadiz: These trees (also called Salt Cedar) are considered a noxious species in many areas.

There are several introduced species of tamarix that are invasive and noxious but the evergreen tree planted for windbreaks (tamarix aphylla) is not generally considered invasive.
