There are still a number of hay cubers around the West, there's one just East of Reno out by
Hafed for instance. The one thing that slowed up the exports was the recent drought that drove hay
prices through the roof. Roof less shipping costs made the product viable as a local sell. The
other thing was that the hay could be rotary baled and not needing to be cubed brought costs down
as well. The cubing thing was more for alfalfa, it doesn't ship real well, it spoils easily, so
driving the water out and reducing volume makes it much easier to stuff in a container. Note that
these products do not ship well behind SD-9's.
