Crude shipments and "Low information" NIMBY concern

With Crude shipments up and rising in frequency, concern in the media is fueling public resistance to them. There have been some terrible derailments with massive property damage and casualties. Were those incidents a result of poor operating practices, poor track maintenance , or a failure of the rolling stock? The true cause is out there and the media is being vague about it.
