After many visits to Palouse Falls State Park (at MP 277 on the Union Pacific Ayer Sub), it is my observation that the best day to catch the southbound (loaded) PCC grain train is Thursday, often around 9-11 AM. But absolutely no guarantees. If equipped with a scanner, you can hear them leaving Hooper.
