Scanner chatter confirms portions of UP's Ayer Sub (aka Washy Line) between Wells and Cheney, WA, are currently burning, wood ties being ignited by a fast-moving wildfire blown eastward from Fishtrap Lake resort, which has been evacuated. Spokane/Cheney area has been under sustained 30mph winds, with higher gusts, most of today. MHKET-B just made it through; all other UP trains headed toward that area are being parked, including a Boardman coal load that was about to pull out of Spokane but is now being moved to Overlook by a BNSF crew who will tie it down there.
