No surprise, NY has banned many of the chemicals and or processes that kill them. Green hotels that don't wash linens daily have been reported (in the hotel industry, all kept from the public) to be causing the infestations get a foothold originally from overseas guests. Bed bug and disease prevention is why hotels always used to insist on washing linens daily, even if you stayed more than one night (health codes used to require it in may cities -- many still do, but it's ignored in the interest of being green.) New York City has been pondering becoming a no kill city for rodent control. If it were to pass,
rats and mice could only be live trapped and relocated.
