I attended the recent open house @ Tacoma Rail. The Powers That Be are really jazzed about using the SD70ACE's in a push - pull / DPU format on the Gulch line. Not only will they be able to do away with doubling or tripling the hill, the new units with their steerable trucks should be better on the track. One of the muckety - mucks of Tacoma Rail said the steel fab place in Frederickson is expecting to double their inbound loads. Keep in mind that TR has to run the gulch at night, due to the Sounder schedules during weekdays.
I agree that the MP-15s do seem to get around the Port quite a bit, while the GenSet is almost always MU'ed to another unit. The GP-7 rebuild appears to be out of service @ the shop, with oil running down from the air filter housing. Probably not a good thing...
