I was a conductor on a UP train heading to the Lake Yard in Downtown Portland one morning and the same thing happened to me. The Portland Marathon was in full swing and runners were running around the train while we were moving along at 6 mph. It was a sight to see. Starting the very next year, all train traffic was stopped for a few hours during the marathon.
