I'll bet you've never had to go back to reset a low lube oil button on an F-7 have you, watch it die anyhow, and then have to restart it?
Fuel can suddenly become real cheap when productivity falls to zero, and you have to call, or go and get another engine, because you've broken down.
Newer and much more reliable engines have tended to spoil us (like those reliable SW 1500's).
Some of these older engines can be another matter. I often worked, in my misspent youth, with two engine consists, which weren't necessarily dictated by the tonnage handled. But, if one did die....the work wouldn't stop, you'd just isolate it, and/or shut it down, and be able to finish up the work, get back to your on duty point, and tie up.
