fkrock,
just what was that you were saying about Aussie couplers and no buffers? Queensland Railways had screwlink and buffers, knuckles and centrebuffer/hook couplers all in service in the late 1970's.

FWIW the Australian EMD bulldog nose is somewhat shorter than the US version.
