Don't believe BNSF has a direct line to Phoenix...they have the PeeVine that drops down obliquely to Phoenix but truncates there. Espee had the direct line running east off the Sunset route at Wellton and heading upward to Phoenix but they mothballed that segment (Wellton cutoff) west of Phoenix years ago which caused discontinuance of passenger service.UP still has healthy presence in Phoenix running freight southeast of Phoenix back and forth from Tuscon region.
