If this fiasco is coming down to cancellation, MTS should take note of recent shenanigans at Yosemite and protect themselves. Are there any unique names related to the line that could be registered as trademarks? MTS should do that; otherwise PI might do it and hold them for ransom.

Delaware North recently did that in Yosemite - they registered all the names (Ahwanee, Curry, Yosemite Lodge, Badger Pass and various other place names) in Yosemite to themselves as trademarks and will demand over $50m from whoever gets the new concession contract if it isn't them. Interesting move ... legality is questionable but the NPS doesn't have enough or expensive enough lawyers to seriously challenge DN over it so if DN doesn't win the new concessionaire may have to rename everything. Of course, the potential for a fight might just scare off anybody other than DN; will have to see what happens when bidding closes.
