I think it was at the top end so they could switch but not have to use the main line. Main Line Tower, tote board and inside switches were run by switchmen. The main line switches were run by Dayton Tower.

The only thing that Main Line tower had was a "Forestalling" switch. Dayton would make the line up, but the switchmen had the final say in letting trains in or out, by controlling the signal indiction. You also had to have the right numbers flashing on the board.

I think it was "Down 20" or "Up 20", was the track next to the river for engines to and from the house. Also from the top end.
