The slide went from the top end of A yard, next to the main lines, to a switch the front of Glendale Station. it was used as a switching lead for the top end jobs. Or, it was sometimes to pull cuts off of the "long side" A yard tracks 1 and 2, to shove back down the "short side" to the hump. I believe most of the slide is still there, north of the 2 Freeway, and it is sometimes used to store well cars.

Mainline tower controlled the bottom end of A yard lead and also A yard tracks 1 and 2, and the top end of the long tracks in C yard, down where San Fernando Road began to parallel the tracks. it did not control access to the mainlines, this was under Dayton Avenue tower. I seem to recall that mainline tower would give you a flashing white light to come out of tracks when you called for signals.
