It has only taken BART 45 years to extend their line from Concord to Antioch, and it will probably be another 5 years before service starts. 50 years to build 15-20 miles of track...now that's impressive! (insert sarcasm here)

I seriously doubt BART will ever make it anywhere other than their current plans of Antioch (possibly Brentwood)and the South Bay. A North Bay extension would require way too much construction, and BART's technology and infrastructure are ancient. If BART expands at all, it will be the expansion of the new e-BART system, which is using standard gauge tracks and DMU's, not the traditional broad gauge and 3rd rail trains.

A future link with ACE in Livermore has been proposed, but nothing officially.

At least SMART is delivering on their promise in a timely fashion. The same can not be said for BART.
