Actually, the UPRR derailment was near Selby. Both tracks shut down; however, at least one open at this time (16:40).

The San Joaquin detour route was over Richmond Pacific RR and BNSF.

California Zephyr from Emeryville ran via Elmhurst and Coast Sub. to Niles Sub., then Oakland Sub. over Altamont. After that, Fresno Sub. to Elvas; back-in to Sacto. station; then onward to Chicago.
