The parts of the circuits not included in the drawing show that this is avoided by the careful sequencing of the contactors which rearrange the connections as the controller is moved through transition, which is the reason I said the drawing was "extremely simplified". Even then, undesirable currents can flow through the grid network if transition isn't made at the right moment during acceleration.
