Well, you sort of hit the nail on the head. The problems those O/O are facing are their own fault. There is always some one that will do the job for cheap, and therein is the problem. They cut their own throats and do not know it until it is too late.

I can only see 2 ways to fix this quickly:

A) Self Regulation: Each O/O is paid the exact same amount per mile plus an exact same hook and drop fee.

B) Government Regulation: Each O/O is paid the exact same amount per mile plus an exact same hook and drop fee.

If a company was contacted to move the container, it can only do so with company owned equipment and company employed drivers. If they want to use O/O fine but they have to be paid the exact same as above.

If a company that is receiving or shipping the container and wanted to move the containers themselves, they can only do so with company owned equipment and company employed drivers. If they want to use O/O fine but they have to be paid the exact same as above.
