Doyle McCormack is one of the truly nice people I have met in my 35 years of railfanning. He is easily approachable yet above reproach. I would often stop by during the days of The Brooklyn Roundhouse. After asking if I could look around he would say: " Sure, just don't fall into the pit." !!! One of my favorite 4449 pictures is of the BNSF Employee Special in Tacoma. As the train was being serviced, I caught a shot of Doyle relaxing in the cab, with his back to the camera and a MEN AT WORK sign hanging below the cab window. The shot was published in the " Railfanning is... " section of Railfan Magazine in April, 2004. When I told Doyle that I took the shot, he said : " I want to make up a BOYS AT PLAY blue flag." If that @$$#o!e Steve Barry ever finds my 4449 slides, I will make a large print for Doyle.
Some day I hope to sit down with him and have a conversation ( off the record ) and maybe a few adult beverages. Maybe at next years' Winterail ???
