My post was not offered as "museum trashing" and I will stand by it not being so. Several posts later on in that thread indicate the same facts and feelings as I did. I think if you talk with any of the older dedicated members they will, if honest agree on several points. That Mike was S--- on, for whatever reasons. That there was a hope we can convince the City and Navy to do something different so we don't have to move. When the sale of the ARTIFACTS, large and small took place there was a lot that was not accounted for. As far as too zellous a collecting desire, take a look at any museum in the country and you see the same thing. Prime among them CSRM, Just don't get me started as to the CRIMINAL way they took care of the Santa Fe collection(NOT)!!!! There was a group in So.CA (not the present one)that had plans and SPACE available. OERM has way more stuff than they can ever cope with. IRM, just look at the barns full of stuff. DO NOT take this to mean that the various pieces should not have been saved, but rather that visions and abilities change as the years go by. I do think that part of GGRM's problem was/is the extreme amount of time and effort it takes to keep 2472 in the style she has become accostomened to. Underlying all this was/is the power struggle within the Museum. There was a model RR club that had a rather long life span and the major reason is that there was a benevolent dictator that ran it year to year. It almost seems that is what is needed for a group to stay together. In ending this, I hope the accomplishments of GGRM are not just things of the past, but that some key people change their thinking and work to re-build the pieces that are left. Let's not loose sight of the fact that there are 3 2400 class Pacific's with in a 50 mile radius. That is just short of amazing. Hopefully everyone might learn how to get along and work together.
