Like some of the posts in this thread, most of these fools, wouldn't know tar sands from light sweet crude, or pass an environmental science class....
They don't really "know" anything about greenhouse gas sources, or how to reduce them. They know nothing about oil types or the dangers they present or how to prevent them. They are "true believers" who have aligned their psychology to a set of "beliefs" not necessarily based on any fact, and those leading these often ignorant fools are seeking to use them to achieve their political goals.
The same applies on the other end of the idiot spectrum to global warming deniers on the opposite but equal end of the ignorance spectrum. And, the crap spewed by these fools is the same kind of true believer bull$#it, promoted by people who are out to make a quick buck, even at the expense of others, and want to take no responsibility for their actions.

Oil, and volatile oils are dangerous, which is why we are tightening up regulations to try to do our best to prevent Lac Magantic in the future. Tar sands are not fracking oils and there are many more problems with this, most having nothing to do with transport, since this is extremely heavy crude. And, of course, these fools all drove to the rally.
Environmental damage is real and has tremendous costs to people and the world that supports us, So if we piss in our well, it's not going to taste very good. I don't listen to Faux for my science, I go to the JPL lectures, instead. So maybe that's why I take it seriously.
The political polemics of tweedle dumb versus tweedle dumber, on which our media thrives, solves none of our real problems, it just panders to and spreads the fear and ignorance you hear so often spewed, even in this thread, (I kind of like Pope Frank)....
We're going to make oil trains safer, we need to provide reliable energy for our real needs, we need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions which are beginning to cause real problems, and for now we need to do it with fracking gas, so both sides are pretty useless ignorant fools who will not solve any of those problems, and are mostly just spewing crap.
