I finally got around to editing a few photos from my 2015 trips to photograph the last steam trains in China. While China has largely been ignored by American railfans since the end of steam on Jingpeng Pass in 2005, the PRC remains the best steam destination in the World. No other country can match China for sheer number or size of operable locomotives hauling revenue freight and occasional passenger trains.
The two best locations for REAL steam in China (and thus the world) are Fuxin in Liaoning (Northeast China) and Sandaoling in Xinjiang (the far west of China). Here are two shots from these locations.
